Treasure Hunter Claire is, among other games like Meltys Quest and Huniepop, one of the most well-known H-games ever made. I was lucky enough to win it in one of the many raffles Kagura Games hosted back when I made my Steam Curator page, and boy; it’s as good as I imagined.
It puts you in the shoes of Claire, a treasure hunter who has to retrieve some treasures as per a futa goddess' request. However, those aren't regular treasures; they are legendary ones that can change the world for the better or bring an unprecedented disaster into the wrong hands. The story plays like the standard JRPG plot and thus has some predictable twists. However, its execution and lovable and varied cast compensate for it.
Gameplay-wise, it plays like your average H-RPG, but it adds some tweaks here and there to make it more unique. For starters, you can upgrade your armor and stats by using the semen you extract from the enemies or any bystander. You can also get experience by killing monsters like in your everyday RPG and redistribute the obtained exp however you want.
The armor management and skill learning systems are similar to the ones in Meltys Quest where you need a specific stat to be high enough (or low enough, in this case) to equip them. Ironically, Claire gets so powerful when buck naked that she destroys whatever poor sod gets in her way.
By the way, getting Claire involved in steamy situations builds up her desire, which she can swap with her female companions to trigger a sex scene and make them immune to sex skills at the expense of their resistance to normal attacks. Sadly, this doesn't lead to hot and steamy girl-on-girl action between Claire and her companions, which is a pity.
The visuals are as stunning as you'd expect from an Acerola game. The characters and backgrounds look great, and there's a wide variety of H-scenes for your “enjoyment”. They vary between pixel art animations, the short animations used in sex attacks, and highly detailed still shots.
Verdict: Outstanding
Treasure Hunter Claire is one of those games you can easily recommend to anyone who wants to play adult games and is familiar with hentai tropes due to its sheer art quality and fun gameplay. Playing this one is a must for everyone, novices and veterans alike.
