I bet no one is surprised that I'm reviewing Nope Nope Nope Nurses since I reviewed the prequel a few days ago, and the third and final VN coming out today is enough motivation to review the entire trilogy.
The game picks up where the first VN left off and follows the same formula as its predecessor. It starts with a short recap at the beginning to put players up to speed before showing the reminder we got in the first VN that the trio of nurses who are now going to attend Yamada each week are much worse. And boy, they didn't lie at all. He doesn't have to deal with Tachibana and the massive stick she has up her ass, Kurokawa's toxic behavior, Yamaguchi's violent tendencies, or Hiramatsu being the most relatable girl ever; he has to deal with really vicious women.
The first of the trio is Numajiri, a nurse who is dead set on tormenting Yamada from the get-go, abusing him physically and mentally until she turns him into her pet. What's worse, she's even nastier toward other women she finds inferior to her, be it the store clerk or other nurses like Mochizuki, a clumsy newbie who makes a lot of mistakes and gets very horny under extreme stress.
Following her comes Kiritani, a former gang leader who uses a sweet and caring facade to manipulate others into doing her bidding or becoming subservient to her. At times, she even resorts to spiking a target's food and making them beg for her to cure them or using her underlings to harass them. Defying her is not an option since she'll personally make anyone suffer the most humiliating punishment she can come up with to put them in their place.
Last but not least comes Mia Tendo, a psychopathic nurse with a childish attitude whose inability to distinguish between good and evil allows her to pull heinous pranks on anyone for shits and giggles, no matter who they are or if they are in the middle of an emergency. She's so terrible you can't help but wonder how the hell she's working at a hospital instead of being locked in a mental asylum, that's it until you learn she's the little sister of the head nurse. That's nepotism for you, I guess.
The game also brings back the cast from the first game and develops them further, focusing a lot on Kurokawa since she's always at odds with the OG Three and has to deal with the harassment of Kiritani and her cronies. Yamada also gets some character development since he starts to show some backbone at some points of the story.
Visuals-wise, the game doesn't change much compared to the prequel. The character portraits and CGs are a feast for the eyes, and Yamada's design is still inconsistent between scenes. The same happens to the audio aspect of the VN since the soundtrack is as superb and immersive as ever, and the voice-acting is still top-notch.
Verdict: As Great as the Prequel
Nope Nope Nope Nurses delivered on what it promised: an even more intense story with the same production values the prequel had. Anyone who liked the first game will enjoy it, but newcomers should play the prequel before this one since it's a direct continuation and the recap at the beginning barely covers the events in the first game.
