I discovered House of Lust a few months ago when I was searching on DLSite for a game that'd scratch the itch to play a game similar to Drain Mansion, so imagine how happy I was when I heard that Shady Corner Games was going to bring it to Steam.
Story
The game's setting is similar to other horror games like Afterschool Tag and Drain Mansion in that they are about a guy who goes inside a haunted mansion and has to find a way out without getting caught by the many monster girls in it. This one, in particular, throws you right into the action without much of an introduction, showing you the protagonist's thoughts to give you an idea of what's going on, and then expands the lore with the many books and message notes scattered throughout the mansion.
Gameplay
It’s enjoyable and reminds of Clock Tower since it consists of walking around the mansion looking for clues, solving (or brute-forcing) puzzles, and running away from the many monster girls that'll chase you more persistently than Nemesis in Resident Evil 3. Furthermore, it adds some elements that give it a personal touch and some challenge. For starters, the protagonist gets winded if you run for too long and stops for a few seconds to catch his breath, leaving him vulnerable. In addition, the protagonist isn't killed when captured—or when he shoots his load onto the mansion's busty decorations—but it's game over if he cums a second time before recovering in the Save Room.
Audiovisuals
Unsurprisingly, the game features eye-catching pixel art and smoothly animated sex scenes with a heavy emphasis on non-con and femdom scenes. Most of them involve the protagonist getting ridden, sucked dry, or getting milked with the girls' massive boobs, plus a few of them showing the MC's solo sessions with the mansion's furniture. As for the soundtrack, the game doesn't have any background music except for a purposefully unsettling track that plays when you're being chased—which you can turn off if it's too distressing for you—and yet it does a decent job at building tension since it keeps you wondering when a monster is going to go after you or what's about to go wrong.
Verdict: Enjoyable
House of Lust is a fun horror game that fans of the genre will enjoy. Sure, it takes no more than three hours to beat (even less if you use a guide, but doing so would suck out all the fun of the game), but its entertaining gameplay and the quality of its art and animations make up for it.
