Netori simulators, as I call them, have become quite popular after NTR Legend came out, blew everyone's minds, and inspired other devs to make similar games. Self Defense Dojo - Secret NTR Lessons is one such game and also the current winner of the DLSite English Awards 2023. Are you curious to know how good the game is? Keep reading to find out!

Story
The game puts you in the shoes of a fuckboy named Kota Morimura, who had to take refuge in a dojo in the countryside after banging the wrong woman and is allowed to stay under the condition that he teaches Judo to its female students. The problem? He hasn't practiced dojo for ages and barely remembers the basics, but he's more than ready to relearn everything and take advantage of the situation while he's at it.Â
There isn't much focus on the story past the introduction, but it gives enough info to make characters more than simple NPCs you interact with. Moreover, it features many references and funny situations that lighten the mood, such as when the protagonist meets the overly muscular female challenger who is head over heels for him.
Gameplay
One of the most important parts of a game like this one is its gameplay, and it doesn't disappoint at all. It consists of managing your schedule and your energy to win over all the girls of the town, and instead of having a single game mechanic, it features a variety of fun mini-games you find everywhere in the game. For example, the Judo training consists of a mini-game in which you left-click and right-click in succession fast enough to topple your opponent, followed by another one where you have to click at the right time to lock your opponent. If you succeed, you then play the ubiquitous mini-game where you touch your trainee in inappropriate places to arouse her without angering her.
How well you do in the training depends on the MC's strength and skill level, and how do you raise them? You guessed right; you do so by playing more mini-games, such as stopping a meter at the right time to train your strength and using left or right click when prompted to train your skill, similar to what you do in the Sexing Chickens mini-game in NTR Legend and the Trash Recycling mini-game in Peeping Dorm Manager. There are even more of them unrelated to training. For example, there's the fishing mini-game everyone loves in which each fish you catch gives you points you can later trade for money and items that'll make your life easier, a drilling mini-game that'll make you stinkingly rich and net you some useful items, and a movie-watching mini-game in which you try to get down and dirty with one of the girls without making too much noise and getting noticed by their partner.
Its biggest downside is that it takes a lot of grinding to max out the girls' lust and their partner's favorability to the point that it's better to focus on getting money and items that increase stat gains first so the game doesn't get repetitive after a while.
Visuals and Sexual Content
The game features a unique and charming art style that differentiates it from the rest of the H-games, plus its characters and backgrounds are pleasing to the eye. As for its sexual content, it features a good amount of nicely animated sex scenes that you can tweak to your liking, whether you want the walls or the MC to be semi-transparent, the speed of his movements, or the X-ray bits to be visible. Moreover, later scenes also feature highly polished still shots that add some variety to the scenes.Â
There's a lot of corrupting and cheating in the game, as you'd imagine given the game's genre, with some extra flavors that make things spicier, such as public sex, banging the girl with her partner next to her and unaware of what's happening, some BDSM, and gangbangs.
Verdict: Outstanding
Self Defense Dojo - Secret NTR Lessons may have a few issues, but it's so good it's very likely to be in my Top 10 list of Steam games released in 2024, if not the top in the list. Its solid gameplay, eye-catching art, and serviceable story make it a must-play for anyone who enjoys playing hentai games, especially if they are into netori.
