SpunkStock: Music Festival is one of those games whose initial prototype had so much potential I couldn't help but follow its development. I played the final version as soon as it came out, and all I can say is it blew my wildest expectations out of the water.
Pros
Excellent art and animation
Banger OST
Solid gameplay with the right difficulty
Multiple endings
Cons
None that I can think of
Gameplay
It replaces the usual Dance Dance Revolution-like mechanics with simpler yet equally engaging ones. You click or press Z whenever the red balls on the right side of the screen reach the circle at the bottom until the white progress bar is completely filled. Moreover, it lets you adjust the difficulty by choosing different modifiers that activate at different points. It also has a wide variety of them that increase or reduce the game's difficulty. There are ones that make your hits score more, increase the perfect hits' window, make the song go faster, or add mines that reduce your progress when clicked on, to name a few.
When you complete a level, you receive reputation points based on how many perfect hits, regular hits, and misses you had, as well as a score ranging from D to SS. Said points can be used to unlock new scenes and buy pin-ups and perks at the shop.
On another note, it includes some minigames that give variety to the game. There's a short platformer that's heavily inspired by Future Fragments’ electrical level and one where you have to grab three keys to escape from the room you're locked in before a monster catches you.
Story
Like in any gameplay-oriented game, there isn't much when it comes to plot. However, the endings vary in one way or another depending on what you do throughout the game. For example, you can change the ending of one of the characters by buying an upgrade, and impregnating any of the girls will add a little snippet about them being mothers and such.
Art
To say the visuals are "pretty" is quite an understatement. Everything looks fantastic; its gorgeous characters, smooth and fluid animations, attractive UI, and eye-catching scenarios. Furthermore, it has a lot of variety of character designs and body types, which is awesome. It features some typical ones, such as flat-chested animal girls or a big tiddy goth character, while it also has some unique ones, like a chubby albino woman, a ripped woman with abs of steel, or a dark-skinned girl with vitiligo.
Music
You can tell they put a lot of love into the soundtrack because it's an absolute banger. Most of it is EDM tracks that could perfectly fit in a nightclub, but it also includes a very fitting eurobeat song and metal track. I won't blame you if you spend hours in the MC's tent listening to the soundtrack.
Verdict: Outstanding
It's no surprise a 98% of Spunkstock: Music Festival's reviews are positive; the game is so good it'll probably end up in my annual Top 10 NSFW games list, if not outright top it. I 100% recommend it and suggest you don't think twice and give it a go.
