She Will Punish Them is a spicy action RPG that borrows some game mechanics from other games of its genre like Diablo or Dark Souls while giving it a touch of originality. I didn’t expect much from the game at first, but it proved to be very enjoyable!
Pros
The game features plenty of options to customize your character and your companions
Beautiful and impressive graphics
Solid gameplay
It’s updated frequently
It has modding support
Cons
There’s no story in the game.
It takes some time to start up
The game needs a tutorial that explains how the combat works
Some armor and lingerie sets clip through the character’s body if some customization settings are at max
Customize yourself, pose fabulously, and kick some undead’s ass
One of the things that caught my attention was the character customization system. It has plenty of options available to give your character a unique look, as well as a few pre-made designs in case you don’t feel like personalizing it. Surprisingly it also allows you to give your character some muscle mass and definition. While most games stick to slim or slightly thick characters, this one lets you create the Amazonian beauty with skull-crushing thighs you always wanted.
The combat system is solid, and fighting hordes of enemies is fun once you get the hang of it. It should have a tutorial that explains how it works, though, because I spent about 5 minutes pressing random buttons trying to figure out how to attack. As for the inventory, it’s nearly identical to the one in Diablo. It’s represented as a 10x5 grid in which each item takes up a definite amount of space—for example, swords take a 1x3 area, and some helmets take a 2x3 area. Lingerie items, on the other hand, are automatically put away in a different inventory. Said inventory has no space limit, and you can access it anytime.
What makes this game distinguishable from any other third-person A-RPG is the option to make make your character pose in the different furniture available—like beds, sofas, and bathtubs—and adjust her facial expression. It also includes a Free Pose mode that lets you take pictures of your character or the whole team anywhere, be it your home, the palace, or a dungeon. You can even use it to take a dynamic action shot of your character slaying some foes if you feel like it. As surprising as it sounds, this feature is strangely addictive. You can literally spend hours searching for different places to take pictures and trying different poses on the character.
As for its performance, it runs smoothly and keeps a stable 60 FPS all the time. It puts my GPU and CPU at 99% and 60% load respectively, so playing it on a PC whose specs are at least better than the minimum system requirements would be ideal. On the negative side, it takes quite a bit of time to initialize. I timed it, and the game loaded the main menu in about 40 seconds when installed on a traditional HDD. Loading it from an SSD speeds up the process a bit, though, taking approximately 15 seconds to do so.
Beautiful and atmospheric, I like it
It’s undeniable that the game’s graphics are great. The textures of both the characters and the maps are very detailed and high-quality, and the lighting helps create a fitting atmosphere. However, some armor and lingerie sets clip through the character’s breasts if they are too big, which can be a bit annoying if your character is very busty. As for the soundtrack, it’s good and also fits the game’s atmosphere, though it doesn’t have many tracks.
Wait a minute, there’s no plot here!
Sadly, the game lacks any kind of story or lore to complement the action or explain why you have to clear checkpoints in the game. It doesn’t need to be some deep, convoluted story full of plot twists; something as simple as an excuse plot could work just as well.
Verdict: Great
She Will Punish Them is a solid game that may need some work, but it’ll eventually become a must-have for fans of action RPGs. Even if it’s a bit short right now, its overall quality, consistent updates, and modding support make it worth buying at full price.
