If you were someone who expected college life to be nothing but partying hard and having as much sex as humanly possible and found out that there’s only a lot of stress and studying at ungodly hours. Then playing College Kings will let you experience how you wished your college life was.
The game lets the player decide which kind of character the protagonist is by presenting you with many important choices that’ll affect how the story progresses and how the whole cast treats the main character. You can be the overconfident dude who is cockier than a rooster and overall a massive asshole, a super popular dude who never passes the chance to have some naughty fun with the girls, or a loyal guy who sticks to one girl and avoids all the partying and fraternity stuff as much as he can. Moreover, the game's real-life mode doesn't allow you to save the game or roll back when you have to make decisions, so you have to think carefully about what you choose because everything has consequences in this game, just like in real life.
Story-wise, it's surprisingly engaging despite being a typical college story. Most characters are far from being two-dimensional and so relatable you can’t help but put yourself in their shoes.
As for the visuals, I'm not a big fan of using 3D models in visual novels because the still shots tend to look very awkward, but the Daz3D models in this game are surprisingly good. There are a few odd shots here and there (mainly the ones involving Julia), but overall the characters are very well done. They even went as far as to animate the sex scenes!
Verdict: Engaging
College Kings is a very entertaining game everyone who is into adult games should give it a chance. I haven't played the following acts yet, but I bet they'll be equally as good if they keep this level of quality, if not better.
