As someone who collects PSX and PS2 games, I'm no stranger to pachinko video games. However, Pachi Pachi on a Roll's approach to the genre surprised me in a good way.
Pros
Pretty art
Catchy soundtrack
The gameplay is solid...
Cons
...except in the minigames
The game mechanics are well-made for the most part and feature the same elements you'd find in your average pachinko game, as well as some unique ones. You start with 50 balls, and your goal is to clear all the tasks in the level, like hitting a type of tile several times or surpassing a specific score. Furthermore, hitting the tiles with hearts three times removes the clothes of the two background girls. Moreover, each level includes a specific minigame, such as a pinball, a breakout, or an aiming minigame, though they have some issues. The aiming minigame is unfairly hard to the point you must have a godlike aim to beat it, and the ball moves oddly in the other two.
Lewd games usually emphasize their art, and this game is no exception. The backgrounds and the different outfits the girls wear are pretty, and the eye candy is pleasing to the eye. Music-wise it’s enjoyable too. It's nice to listen to each of its songs, and they also fit the aesthetic of the levels they play in. Moreover, the main track is surprisingly catchy. I can't help but whistle it while I'm writing this review.
Verdict: Fun
Pachi Pachi on a Roll may have some flaws, but its pros outweigh its cons. The game is very entertaining, and its art and soundtrack enhance the experience. Whether you're a fan of pachinko games or not, you're likely to enjoy this game.
