A single look at Prepare Uranus: Exploring Black Holes for Adults' Steam page gives you a good idea of what to expect: a humorous plot with decent gameplay and eye-catching art. Did it meet my expectations? Keep reading to find out.
Pros
Good story
Decent gameplay
Pretty art
Cons
It misses some QoL features that could make grinding less tedious
There’s a good chunk of typos
Gameplay
Gameplay-wise, it features a neat mix of the game mechanics you usually find in any visual novel made in Ren'py with management sim elements. When you're not talking to people, you're visiting other planets to buy stuff or assigning tasks to the girls that work for you. Moreover, you can choose whether to make them work at the bar or spend money training them to make them earn more in the long run.
However, it could have been implemented better. You have to pick the tasks very carefully because you can't change them once they are assigned, and having to choose what each girl does every day gets tedious after a while, especially when you need to grind cash or experience. Having a way to assign the same tasks your crew was assigned the previous day by just pressing a single button would make it more bearable.
Story
It puts you in the shoes of Ksir, an alien who has to manage a bar after a series of events caused by his lack of foresight left him and his boss with a huge debt to a duo of space pirates willing to vaporize them if they miss a deadline. The story is quite light-hearted despite the whole bit about the protagonists getting killed if they fail, and almost everything is played for laughs, be it Ksir screwing things up for the nth time or the girls overestimating the size of some of their patrons. Sadly, there are a good number of typos in the dialogue. It's not so bad you think they are trying to make up a new dialect, but it makes it harder to focus on the story.
Audiovisuals
The game's art is pretty and features a lot of variety in the characters' designs. The human girls are beautiful, while the rest of the cast's design varies between the stereotypical green-skinned alien and a more bizarre look. As for the saucy content, most of it is a succession of still shots that change as the dialogue progresses, but it also features some animations in the task assignment section. As implied by the game's name, the scenes feature a lot of anal sex that gets more extreme as the story goes on as well as the occasional blowjobs.
Verdict: Good
Prepare Uranus: Exploring Black Holes for Adults may have some issues, but it's good enough to get a positive recommendation. However, I suggest you play it in short sessions instead of a long gaming marathon so you don't get annoyed by all the grinding.
