I've been curious about Nayla's Castle for a long time because it's not every day that you see a platformer game with a futa protagonist, and what I played in the demo featured in the latest Steam NextFest left me wanting more.
You're not crazy if you feel like you've seen this game before since I featured it . That said, I've been curious about Nayla's Castle for a long time because it's not every day that you see a platformer game with a futa protagonist.
You play as the titular character's latest prey, a girl who can magically grow a dick at will and is able to resist Nayla's curse. Because of it, she's challenged to reach the top of the castle and fight against Nayla for her freedom or become her new living sex toy if she fails.
Like in most platformer games where the gameplay is the main focus, the plot is simple, linear, and without much development beyond the initial setup. It follows the same formula for the most part: reach a new floor, beat the boss, and go back to your pocket room, but it gets more interesting when you arrive at the last level, and then it ends on a satisfying note.
Gameplay-wise, it’s fun and unique in that you can beat your enemies by using your fists or your di- *ahem* or by charming them to have sex with you. Moreover, you heal yourself by banging enemies and get splash art you can see in the gallery, so there's extra motivation to do it. Unlike regular mobs, boss battles require some thinking because rushing to them usually doesn't work. Sometimes, you have to use the environment to beat them or carefully plan your moves.
My only gripe is how much it takes to get used to the controls because there are different buttons for the "attack" and "use" commands, and in general, the key layout is a bit unorthodox. It'd have been awesome if you could customize the key binds, though it helps that each action has three different keys assigned to them.
The visuals are pretty and feature a mix of nicely-animated pixel art and eye-pleasing 2D splash art you unlock when performing some specific sex scenes, and each of them can be seen anytime in the gallery. On another note, the maps are short but so varied they even include a forest and the inside of a pyramid (don't ask me how the hell Nayla managed to fit them in her castle, I have no clue).
Verdict: Enjoyable
I had a lot of fun playing Nayla’s Castle, even if it took me some time to get used to its controls. It's not particularly long, with it taking between 2 and 3 hours to beat (it takes a tad more if you try to obtain all the scenes, though), but it's a solid and charming platformer.
